Lower Your Freight Costs
with Kitting, Subassembly & Sequencing

The product fulfillment process in the automotive industry can be both costly and time-consuming. Many automotive companies choose to kit or sub-assemble parts before shipping, which increases costs even more.

We understand a comprehensive knowledge of automotive parts is required for this part of the fulfillment process. Fortunately, with over 20 years experience, BR Williams can help.

By outsourcing automotive kitting, sub-assembly, and sequencing services, you can:

  • Save space
  • Improve productivity
  • Lower freight costs
  • Decrease labor costs

Automotive Kitting Services

The process of product fulfillment can be very time-consuming, especially when there is assembly required.

Kitting can speed up that process before it even gets to the automotive manufacturer by combining several different parts that go to a specific “assembly station” on the vehicle assembly line.

Our automotive kitting services include:

  • Picking and packing/packaging parts to support manufacturing operations.
  • Receiving, storing, and removing all the dunnage and corrugated material before shipping.

This not only results in higher productivity but also reduces the waste at your facility.

Automotive Subassembly Services

Assembling parts before it reaches the manufactures can also speed up the product fulfillment process. However, the assembled part is fairly large and the cost is high to ship the assembled part from the supplier directly to the plant.

The solution is to outsource the subassembly to a location nearby, such as BR Williams. If you ship your auto parts in bulk to our location, we put the parts together, place them in a shipping rack, and send them to the plant.

Benefits of automotive sub-assembly include:

  • Lower costs, as you can ship more material closer to the final destination
  • Assurance you would not need to lease (or build) another facility close to the plant

Automotive Sequencing Services

Automotive sequencing is the solution for suppliers to deliver parts to the manufacturers at the right time in the right order. Just-In-Time (JIT) in the proper build sequence, as requested by the customers.

With sequencing, the manufacturers can move the parts directly from the truck and present them to the assembly line in the order and sequence, they are needed.

Generally, automotive parts sequencing has these benefits:

  • Maximizes manufacturer’s floor space
  • Eliminates waste in the manufacturer’s facility
  • Reduces the inventory levels being carried by manufacturer and supplier

Just in sequence (JIS) is sometimes called in-line vehicle sequencing (ILVS), sequential parts delivery (SPD), or sequenced in-line supply (SILS).

Automotive sequencing covers a number of components, including doors, quarter panels, overhead systems, seats, wheels, glass, bumpers, exhaust systems, axles, and even engines.
