Improve Your Supply Chain with Inbound & Outbound Logistics
Within the supply chain process, there is a much smaller piece of the puzzle that is arguably the most critical component in maintaining accurate inventory: The Inbound and Outbound Logistics Process.
If inventory is not initially received and reported accurately during these processes, it becomes nearly impossible to maintain an accurate system or record. This affects all aspects of logistics services and the supply chain.
Also, if the outbound process does not operate correctly, shipments may be incomplete, arrive late or sent to the wrong recipient.
To ensure that this process runs as smoothly as possible, BR Williams uses a top-of-the-line warehouse management system (WMS) with real-time logistics services capabilities.

The Inbound Logistics Process
2
Load Arrival
Load information into the warehouse management system (WMS) to schedule load appointments and reserve docks, doors, and staging areas.
3
Receiving Real-Time
Information
The “receipt” is handed to coordinators to begin the receiving activities and real-time reporting.
4
License Plate Tracking
Barcoded “License Plates” are added to each part which enables us to track where the part is in the process in real-time.
5
Put-Away & Receipt Close
Once the trailer or carrier has been emptied, the receipt is updated to allow for review and exceptions. A receipt confirmation is sent to the customer.
The Outbound Logistics Process
1
Order Entry and Changes
The first steps of an outbound system is to validate orders, check for errors or duplications, and handle exceptions immediately.
2
Replenishment & Product Picking
Plan for future deliveries by establishing pick pre-requisite requirements and scheduling warehouse services to be completed before the corresponding pick tasks.
3
Checking, Staging, & Loading
Accuratly check, inspect, and label orders and record each step in real-time through WMS for accuracy and timeliness.
4
Shipping & Document Generation
Ship the product to its final destination and create a log of the process for your records in the WMS.
